Windmill Fire
The Windmill Fire started Aug 19, 2026 and is located 8 miles north of Reed Point, MT. It is burning in varied terrain with a mix of grass, sage, juniper and timber. Energy infrastructure is threatened. Initial attack operations was handled by local volunteer fire departments. The Montana Department of Natural Resources and Conservation (MT DNRC) County Assist Team (CAT) took command of the fire on Aug 21, 2026 at 0600. EVACUATIONS: There are no active evacuations for the Windmill Fire at this time, however, everyone is encouraged to remain in “Ready” status during wildfire season.
