.SYNOPSIS... The heat is expected to peak today with high temperatures 5 to 10 degrees above average. High temperatures will cool a few degrees on Thursday, then cool to around average for Friday into early next week. Drier today, then a slight chance of afternoon showers and thunderstorms will return Thursday, mostly for the mountains, and continue for each afternoon into next week.

.SHORT TERM (Today through Friday)... The heat is expected to peak today with high temperatures around 5 degrees warmer for inland areas than Tuesday and around 5 to 10 degrees above average. High temperatures for today will range from the mid 70s to near 80 at the coast to the upper 90s to 108 for the Inland Empire with 110 to 114 for the lower deserts.
