    - Breezy winds Friday through the weekend with very low thunderstorm chances returning along the ID/NV border.

    .SHORT TERM /Through Friday Night/... Issued 222 PM MDT WED AUG 5 2026 The warming reaches its zenith tomorrow through Saturday, with maximum temperatures in lower elevations above 100 degrees. Even though overnight low temperatures are in the 60s throughout the area providing some relief, a Heat Advisory has been issued due to the very hot daytime temperatures. Some local areas with morning lows around 70 degrees will be under Major Heat Risk Friday and Saturday, while the rest of the area with morning lows in the 60s and 50s see Moderate to Minor Heat Risk. As the driving upper level ridge flattens Friday, afternoon wind gusts pick up especially in Idaho.     Claremont Fire

    The Claremont Fire was reported on July 6, 2026, approximately one-mile northeast of Boise in the Boise foothills. The fire is burning in the 8th Street Fire (1996) scar. The fuels include a mixture of short grass, brush and ponderosa pine regeneration. The fire is being managed under a full suppression strategy to protect lives, homes, critical infrastructure, recreation areas, and natural resources in the Boise foothills and surrounding communities. In addition to its proximity to development and recreational areas as well as steep terrain, a portion of the fire area contains unexploded military ordnances (UXO). Great Basin Complex Incident Management Team 3 will transition management of the fire back to the local unit beginning Monday, July 27 at 6:00AM. Please direct questions to local Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Boise District Office or USDA Forest Service - Boise National Forest offices.
