Dos Pistolas Fire
The Dos Pistolas Fire started on August 11, 2026, in Brooks County and was responded to by local fire departments. Texas A&M Forest Service was requested to provide assistance in the form of additional firefighters and heavy equipment at 2:06 pm and quickly responded. Texas A&M Forest Service is currently in unified command with local fire departments. Heavy equipment is engaged in constructing containment lines on both flanks of the fire. Aviation resources including Single Engine Air Tankers (SEATs) were ordered and continue to assist in suppression efforts with beneficial drops. Forward progression is currently stopped with crews suppressing flare ups.FINAL UPDATE: August 13, 2026 9:00 pm - The Dos Pistolas Fire is 100% contained. All state resources have been released from the fire.
