Bufford Creek Fire
The Bufford Creek Fire started on August 10, 2026, in Stephens County and was responded to by local fire departments. Texas A&M Forest Service was requested to provide assistance in the form of additional firefighters and heavy equipment at 1:49 pm and quickly responded. Texas A&M Forest Service is currently in unified command with local fire departments. Heavy equipment is engaged constructing containment lines with moderate fire activity observed in mixed oak and juniper timber. Aviation resources including Single Engine Air Tankers (SEATs) were ordered and continue to assist in suppression efforts. FINAL UPDATE: August 14, 2026 5:50 pm - The Bufford Creek Fire is 100% contained. All state resources have been released from the fire.
