Beehive Fire
The Beehive Fire was first reported at approximately 1 p.m. on June 26 in the Tusas Valley, north of Highway 64 and about 15 miles west of Tres Piedras, New Mexico. The fire was discovered by the crew of a detection flight that had been dispatched to survey the forest following recent lightning activity across the area.As the fire grew and suppression needs increased, management of the incident was transitioned to Southwest Incident Management Team 3, led by Incident Commander Steven Griego. The team coordinated firefighting resources and worked closely with local, state and federal partners to implement strategies that prioritize firefighter and public safety while protecting natural and cultural resources and minimizing impacts to nearby communities and infrastructure.
